Red Sox AAA district tourney begins today

The Nevada Red Sox AAA Legion team will be hosting a district tournament today through Thursday or Friday at the El Dorado Springs High School baseball field.

The district tournament has four teams, and will be conducted in a double elimination format, with two games each day.

Today's games start at 3:30 p.m., when the number two seed, Warrensburg, plays the number three seed, Windsor.

Following that game, the number one seed, Nevada, plays the number four seed, Harrisonville. Red Sox coach Matt Ketterman said Monday he estimates if the first game runs the full nine innings, the Red Sox game will start between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Wedne-day's 3:30 p.m. game has the two losing teams from Wednesday facing off in an elimination game and the second game will feature the winning teams.

Thursday's 3:30 p.m. game is an elimination game between the winner of the losers' bracket game and the loser of the Wednesday's winner's bracket.

The winner of this game will play the winner of Wednesday's winners' bracket game in the championship game.

Should the team from the winners' bracket be undefeated going into the championship game and the losers' bracket team wins Thursday, there could be a second championship game on Friday.
