Cheyanna Marie Koshko

Cheyanna Marie Koshko, 32, of Butler, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 29, 1980, to Bob and Carolyn Hellwig in Butler.

Cheyanna, one of two children, grew up in the rural Bates County Community of Pleasant Gap. She attended Hudson R-9 Elementary School and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1998. Cheyanna furthered her education at Northeastern A&M in Oklahoma. She was a Bates County Fair Queen, and Schell City Fall Festival Queen.

Cheyanna enjoyed camping, horseback riding, bowling on the Wii and listening to country music -- especially George Strait and Lady Antebellum.

She loved taking pictures of old and unusual barns and making crafty cookbooks with recipes from family and friends. She took great pride in her children and her home. Her memberships included the Pleasant Gap Christian Church and the El Dorado Springs Order of Eastern Star.

She loved her children and cherished the time spent with them. In her high school years, she liked playing volleyball and basketball. Cheyanna was generous, kind and non-judgmental. She was a loving and caring mother, daughter and sister.

Cheyanna is survived by her parents, Bob and Carolyn Hellwig of Butler, Mo.; one son, Judd Weston Koshko of the home; one daughter, Reegan Ann Koshko of the home; one brother, Kaleb Hellwig and his wife, Jody; nephew, Kie; and niece, Kinley, all of Springfield, Ill.; maternal grandparents, LV Jr. and Marie Brown of Appleton City, Mo.; a nephew, niece and uncles and aunts. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Mildred Hellwig.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 26, at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, Mo., with the Rev. Don Lybarger officiating. Private family inurnment at later date. Contributions may be made to Koshko Children Trust Fund, in care of Kaleb Hellwig.
