Margaret Louise Thompson, 84, a resident of Fort Scott, died early Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Medicalodges of Fort Scott. She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Visalia, Calif., the daughter of Jess Thompson and Annabelle McNeil Thompson.

For many years, Margie helped her parents on the family farm. She later moved to the Tri-Valley group home and later moved to Medicalodges. She enjoyed doing household chores and working in the garden. She also enjoyed crafts.

She is survived by her two stepsisters, Jane Burns and June Bloomfield, both of Fort Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Violet Thompson; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Irene Jankey; a brother, Raymond Thompson; and a stepbrother, Jess Thompson Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the West Plains Cemetery. Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
