A Monday morning traffic crash took the life of 54-year-old Linda S. McCartney, Nevada.

The crash occurred at 9 a.m., and according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 2005 Dodge Neon McCartney was driving, eastbound on U.S. 54 Highway, 3 miles east of Nevada, abruptly pulled into the oncoming lane to avoid striking a vehicle in front of her and collided head-on with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 36-year-old Shelly D. Zartman, of El Dorado Springs. McCartney was pronounced dead at the scene by Vernon County Coroner David Ferry. Zartman suffered minor injuries and was transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment. In compliance with state law, Zartman also was tested for alcohol at the scene.

The patrol said McCartney was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
