Senior Center Cookie Walk generates $350

Thursday, December 20, 2012

The Vernon County Senior Center raised nearly $350 at its inaugural Cookie Walk, held Friday at the center, 301 E. Main, Nevada. Center director Angie Daniels said the effort was "a huge success." In the event, guests purchased tins for $10 and filled them with a variety of donated cookies. Funds raised will be used as part of an ongoing effort to complete a $1,000 Wal-Mart Matching Grant in conjunction with the Ozark Food Harvest. Nearly 100 dozen cookies were donated from individuals and organizations throughout Vernon County. Cookie donors included Connie Oyer, Heritage Baptist Church, Sue Hinkle, Mary Ann Mitchem, Nonie's Kitchen, Barbara Chrisenbery, Nikki Smith, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bronaugh Methodist Church, Thalias, Angie Daniels, Brenda Hill, Janet Pike, Sharon Suetter, and Nellie Boyd.
