The Nevada Middle School seventh-grade boys' basketball teams split with Carthage Monday night.

The A Team defeated Carthage, 35-23. Hunter Mason led the offensive effort for Nevada with 19 points.

On the defensive side, Zach Gardner had nine rebounds, five steals and one blocked shot.

"This was a great win for the boys. We played great defensively tonight," head coach Robert Miner said. "Due to the great defensive effort, all members of both A and B teams were able to play in the A game."

With the win, the A team is now 6-4 for the season and 3-2 in the Tri-County League.

The B team lost, 13-33. Tayte Moore led Nevada's offense with four points. On the defensive side, Shelby Trotter had four rebounds and two blocks.

With the loss, the B team is 2-4 for the season and 2-3 in the Tri-County League.

Miner's squads were scheduled to get right back into action on Tuesday, taking back to the road to take on Seneca, but those results were not available at press time.
