Christopher Earl "Chris" Otter

Christopher Earl "Chris" Otter, 36, Deerfield, Mo., passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, unexpectedly. He was born on Dec. 8, 1976, in Nevada, Mo., to James E. Otter and Nancy Earlene Davis Otter. He was raised along with his only sibling, Corey, by their parents, Nancy and John A. Walker, in the Deerfield area. On March 7, 1998, he married Kelly Wright from LaCygne, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Chris graduated from Nevada High School in the Class of 1995. His senior year he was president of the Nevada VICA Chapter. He attended the Nevada Vo-tech School studying the trades such as carpentry, plumbing and woodworking. Later on he attended classes on heating and air. After graduation Chris worked the trades in Nevada at Tapjac Lumber Company. Then he worked the trades throughout Vernon County, Mo., during his lifetime. Chris was a member of the Deerfield Baptist Church and was baptized on May 21, 1989. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father to his children. He enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors and would hunt and fish as often as possible; often times taking one or both of his children with him each time.

In addition to his wife, Kelly, he is survived by one daughter, Haley Nicole Otter, and one son, Christopher Earl "C.J." Otter Jr., of the home; his mother, Nancy Davis Walker and his stepfather, John Walker, Richards, Mo.; one brother, Corey Otter and his wife, Stephanie; two nephews, Braxton Otter and Brady Otter, all of Deerfield; one aunt, Connie Davis Liles and her husband, Kenneth, Richards, Mo., and their children, Amanda Liles Pollack and her, husband Josh, Nevada, Mo., and Jared Liles and his wife, Jamie, Oronogo, Mo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Beverly Davis, Richards, Mo.; and Arthur Otter, Deerfield, Mo.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at Deerfield Cemetery with the Revs. Bill Clevenger and Bryan Keith officiating. Friends may call now and until 1 p.m., Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
