The Nevada High School junior varsity girls' basketball squad got back into action Monday night against the Lady Chiefs of Springfield's Kickapoo High School.

Things looked good for Nevada as the contest began, as head coach Jenny Allard's squad held a tough Kickapoo team to just 10 first-quarter points. Kickapoo still had the edge, however, taking a 10-6 lead into the second period.

Things went downhill from there for Nevada as Kickapoo made it look easy, winning every quarter on the way to the victory. The Lady Tigers were still in it at halftime, though, down 23-11.

That quickly changed as Kickapoo won the third quarter, 14-6, to take a 37-17 lead into the game's final 7 minutes. Kickapoo extended the lead one final time in the fourth quarter, ultimately taking the victory by a final score of 44-20.

Allard's squad is scheduled to conclude its season on Friday, heading back on the road to take on the Lady Mustangs of McDonald County High School. Tipoff in that contest is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow.
