Sheldon boys defeat Montrose

The Panthers of Sheldon won for the 18th time this season against just six defeats, rolling by Montrose, 50-31, Friday night.

The Panthers led by just four at 13-9 at the first-quarter break, but steadily added to that advantage, taking a 28-17 lead at halftime and expanding that to 39-22 with one period remaining.

Taylor Belew led the Panthers with 13 points in a balanced scoring effort. Corey Baney and Reed Worsley each added 10, Zack Enochs had seven, and Micah Swanson, Kasey Jones, Robbie McCartney, and Trenton Heckadon each added two.

Sheldon will play in the first round of the Class 1, District 5 basketball tournament at Willard, Mo., against Walnut Grove today.
