City to participate in statewide tornado drill
The City of Nevada will participate in the upcoming statewide tornado drill at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to mark Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week.
The drill is to encourage schools, businesses and families across the state to practice taking shelter, according to a news release from Nevada Fire Chief Bill Thorton.
If severe weather is forecast for Tuesday, the drill will be moved to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service, the State Emergency Management Agency and Missouri's local emergency management offices urge everyone to use Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 4-8, as an opportunity to plan and prepare for how they will respond to severe weather.
