Sylvia Faith Edgell

Sylvia Faith Edgell, 90, formerly of Bronaugh, Mo., died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, Mo. She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Vernon County, Mo., the daughter of Joe M. Edgell and Minnie Woody Edgell.

She was a 1942 graduate of Bronaugh High School. Sylvia began her teaching career the next year following graduation. She obtained her teaching degree from the Springfield State Teacher College following 12 years of summer classes. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Garland. She also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Nevada and the Missouri State Teachers Association. Over the years she had made many quilts for members of her family.

Survivors include a niece, Pamela Jo Turner, Orange, Texas; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, one infant, Glen Edgell and William Edgell.

The Rev. Rick Womack will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Garland. Burial will follow in Heavysides Cemetery near Bronaugh. The family will receive friends from 5:30 -7 p.m., Tuesday, at Cheney Witt Chapel.
