Blanche Higgins, 76, Sheldon, Mo., was called home to be with her Savior on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Medicalodge of Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Feb. 16, 1937, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., to John Walter Gaines and Fern Rothgeb Gaines. Upon the death of her mother, she was adopted at the age of 2 by Mable Frances and Willie "Dutch" Peters of Sheldon, Mo. She married Charles W. Higgins on Dec. 17, 1954, in her parents' home in rural Sheldon and he survives of the home.

Blanche attended Sheldon schools and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1955. She was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of the Sheldon Christian Church. Blanche was a farm wife and homemaker. She cherished her husband and daughters and their families. Blanche loved fishing, reading, her dogs and spending time with her family and the Lord. She lived all of her life in the Sheldon area.

In addition to her husband, Charles "Bill," survivors include two daughters, Delma Ross and her husband, Gary, Asbury, Mo., and Marty McPeak and her husband, Scott, Sheldon; five grandchildren, Magarah Charlton, Micah Pennington, Scotty Scoville, Jared McPeak and Mitchell Ross; six great-grandchildren, Colton and Clay Charlton, Grace and Gage Scoville, and Marlie and Brady Pennington; one sister-in-law, Alberta Peters, Houston, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Delmar and Ronald Peters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 29, at Sheldon Christian Church, Sheldon, with the Rev. Bryce Hotchkiss officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery. Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sheldon Christian Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
