Opher Linn "Bill" Greer, 62, Richards, Mo., passed away on April 1, 2013, at his home in Richards, following a sudden illness. He was born June 18, 1950, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Opher Linn Greer and Lillian Durrossette Greer. He married Mary Elizabeth Koder on July 17, 1972, in Nevada, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Bill was born in Fort Scott and lived in Richards his entire life. He made his living as a truck driver and as a farmer. Bill loved fishing, hunting, and garden tractor pulling.

In addition to his wife, Mary Elizabeth, he is survived by two sons, Billy Greer and his fiancée, Lorie Jones, and Christopher Greer and his wife, Heather, all of Richards; one daughter, Elizabeth Barnes, Rich Hill, Mo.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Jamie Pettibon and his wife, Angie, and John Pettibon, all of Richards; one sister, Linda Hoskins and her husband, Robert, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Grover; and two sisters, Caroline Harms and Debbie Blankenship.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 1-2 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
