Ida Lee Spencer, 85, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Nevada, to Fred F. Roof and Ruby Clara Palmer Roof. She married Kendall Spencer on June 14, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2002.

Ida Lee grew up in the Walker area and attended Walker High School. She was active in Vernon County Relay for Life for many years. Ida Lee worked as a nurse and later as activities director for Moore-Few Care Center until her retirement in 1993. She served on the Nevada Housing Authority Board and was involved in many fundraisers and activities for them. Ida Lee loved to embroidery. She was a member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Spencer, Grand Forks, N.D.; two sisters, Jean Francis and her husband, Glen, Nevada, and Peggy L. Butler, Nevada; two stepbrothers, Paul Perrin, Richards, and Jim Perrin of Colorado; one stepsister, Rosemary Ryan, Nevada; one nephew, Don Goins and his wife, Diane, Walker; one great-nephew, Dustin Goins, Nevada; one great-great-nephew, Bryce Goins, Nevada; one great-great-niece, Paige Goins, Nevada; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kendall; one brother, Ernie Roof; and one great-nephew, Jeremy Goins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Melvin Mabra officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
