Bonnie Lou Short, 82, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 19, 1930, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., to Ira Collins and Alma Galvin Collins. She married Daniel Elwood Short on June 10, 1942, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2005.

Bonnie was raised in Dederick, Mo. She attended Willow Grove School and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. She spent most of her working life as a bookkeeper for Nevada Farm Service and Junior House in Nevada. Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Greg Short and his wife, Karen, Lane Short and his wife, Debby, and Keith Short and his wife, Samantha, all of Nevada; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Rozella Gammon, Harwood, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her spouse she is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eugene Collins, Ralph Collins and Donald Collins; and one sister, Erma Hawkins.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., today, May 14, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, Mo., with Scotty Pritchett officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family received friends from 6-7 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home on Monday, May 13.
