Southwest Elite swept at home
The Southwest Elite baseball team under head coach Jim Rayburn was swept Tuesday, at Champion Diamonds by the Midwest Nationals Blue team.
Grant Davis took the loss on the mound in the opener, allowing five runs in 2 1/3 innings of work. Brendon Craig led the Elite offense with two hits and Caleb Kauffman and Tyler Cantrell each had a home run in the 9-7 defeat.
In the nightcap, the Elite suffered an 8-6 loss, despite coming back from an early 5-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead going to the top of the seventh inning. The Nationals took the win on a two-run home run by Drew Bridges, by a final score of 7-6.
Joe Lean took the loss, despite giving up only three hits in four innings of relief. Silas Bohannon led the Elite offense with three hits.
The Elite were scheduled to be back in action Thursday, at Chillicothe, but those results were not available at press time.
