Kathleen Jewell Berry

Kathleen Berry, 88, Nevada, formerly of Walker, Mo., passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home in Nevada. She was born on Sept. 5, 1924, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., to Fred F. Ward and Lola Irene McMillen Ward. She married Joseph W. Berry in Lamar, Mo., on June 15, 1941, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1990.

Kathleen graduated from Schell City High School. She and Joe lived on the family farm near Walker, Mo., for 50 years. She had lived in Nevada for the past five years and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Nevada. Kathleen was also a member of the Helping Hand Club.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Berry, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Richard Berry, Overland Park, Kan.; two grandchildren, Sandy Schunk, Blue Springs, Mo., and James Berry, Lake Winnebago, Mo.; four great-grandsons, Jersey, Kaeden, Walt and Noah; one sister, Nancy Zaring, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie Olive, May Neal and June Barttrum.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery, Ketterman, Mo. Friends may call now until the hour of service and the family received friends from 7-8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
