Charles H. Lawson, 77, Milo, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home in Milo. He was born May 19, 1936, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Howard Calvin Lawson and Margaret Josephine Bollinger Lawson. Charles was united in marriage to Carrie Janice Cooper on June 30, 1956, in Nevada, and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2006.

Charles moved to Deerfield in 1947, where he attended grade school and then graduated from Nevada High School in 1954. He bought a farm south of Deerfield and worked for the Nevada Habilitation Center from 1955-1991 for 35 1/2 years, until his retirement. Charles was a member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles A. "Tony" Lawson, Nevada; one daughter, Ruth Drake and her husband, Rusty, Yates Center, Kan.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his longtime dear friends, Darrel Keating and his wife, Lois. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie; two daughters, Julie Ann Lawson and Margaret Janice Lawson; son-in-law, Charley Schommer; two brothers, Herb Lawson and John Lawson; and three infant great-grandchildren.

A committal service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Scott. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
