Christopher Lee Roper Sr., 36, El Dorado Springs, Mo., died in an accident while saving his son's life at Stockton Lake, Saturday, June 15, 2013. Christopher was born Dec. 11, 1976, in South Dakota, to Terry and Teresa Roper. He was united in marriage to Christine Schnedler July 4, 2003, in Nevada, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Christopher was raised in Stockton and attended school in Stockton. He worked most of his life in construction living in Nevada and El Dorado Springs. Chris was a loving father and husband.

Survivors include his wife, Christine, of the home; four daughters, Haylea Hanel, Dayton, Texas, Metallica Roper, Kearstyn Roper, and Kaydence Roper, all of the home; one son, Christopher Roper Jr., also of the home; his mother, Terry Carter, Montevallo, Mo.; his father, Terry Roper, Rapid City, S.D.; two brothers, Andrew Roper, Rapid City, and Billy Turgeon, West Va.; one brother-in-law, Christopher Jones, Nevada; four sisters-in-law, Jessica Jones, Crystal Jones, Ashton Finley and Brittany Finley, all of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Visitation was 5-6 p.m., Monday, June 17, at the funeral home and friends may call now until the hour of service.
