Saturday, June 22, 2013

Alice Lucille (Garrett) Huston, 75, of Schell City, Mo., the daughter of Daniel Carlton and Luna Winona (Beard) Garrett was born March 10, 1938, in Palestine, Ark., and passed from this life on Monday, June 17, 2013, at her home in Schell City.

Lucy first moved to Schell City, along with her family, in 1953 when she was a sophomore in high school. She later moved to California, then back to Schell City where she remained the rest of her life. At home she was always known as "Lucy" -- however, at work everyone knew her as Alice. She was employed at Nellie Don which later became Junior House until the plant was closed. She then began employment at the shirt factory, then Perry's until her retirement -- both located in El Dorado Springs. Lucy loved to raise flowers and work in her garden. She also loved large family gatherings -- being around those she loved and who love her. She was a faithful member of the Schell City Christian Church.

Lucy is survived by her son, Michael Wayne King and his wife, Stephanie, and stepdaughter, Summer, of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; her 96 year old mother, Winona Garrett of El Dorado Springs; her granddaughter, Amanda Sue King of Fort Scott, Kan.; four great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Katelyn, Gracelyn, and Gabriel; a sister, Linda G. Bailey of Schell City; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father; three brothers, Daniel, Larry, and Kenneth; two nephews, Donald Bailey and Larry C. Garrett; and her beloved daughter, Patricia Erin King.

Funeral services for Alice Lucille Huston were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 20, at the Schell City Christian Church in Schell City, with the Rev. Paul Thorade officiating. Musical selections were provided by Kelly Davis and David Souza. Pallbearers were Larry Davis, Ervin Goodman, James Greer, Larry Dade, Doug Majors, and Bob Majors. Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City. Arrangements for Mrs. Huston were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City.
