Karen Kay Stevenson, 72, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at her home, following a long illness. She was born on Dec. 16, 1940, in Moundville, Mo., to Walter Dale Butterfield and Mildred Elaine Whiteside Butterfield.

Karen graduated from Nevada High School in December 1957. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Karen was a member of the Eastern Star and some of her interests included square dancing, singing with her sisters, sewing, fishing, and playing cards with family.

Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Hayes and her husband, Steve, of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Gene Dennison and Bill Dennison, both of Nevada; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Mullins of Iola, Kan., and Carol Lyons of Nevada; two brothers, Darrell Butterfield and his wife, Sharon, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kenny Butterfield and his wife, Becky, of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joan Rives; and one brother, Jim Butterfield.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with graveside services following in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.
