Darlene Ellen Fisher, 81, Nevada, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a lengthy illness. Darlene was born March 15, 1932, in Carroll County, Mo., to Roy William Goldsby and Georgia Ruth Albin Goldsby. She married George Walter Fisher on Aug. 2, 1949, in Miami, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 2000.

Darlene grew up in central Missouri and graduated from Marshall High School. She spent most of her life in the Independence, Mo., area. Darlene worked for the I.R.S. for 23 years in Kansas City, until her retirement in 1989. She and her husband George later moved to Nevada in 1998. Darlene was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include two children, Linda Maxine McGinnis and her husband, John, Nevada, and Larry Walter Fisher and his wife, Sandra Farish Fisher; seven grandchildren, Crystal Diane Brown and her husband, Kenny, Carthage, Mo., Daniel Alan McGinnis and his wife, Samantha, Nevada, William Timothy Winklepleck and his wife, Crystal, Des Moines, Iowa, Matthew Scott Winklepleck and his wife, Alison, Blue Springs, Mo., Katherine Susanne Fisher, Anaheim, Calif., Kenneth Robert "Cal" Callison Jr. and his wife, Bethany, Winterset, Iowa, and Clayton Cummings Callison, West Des Moines, Iowa; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Wanda Maxine Root; and one great-granddaughter, Kendall Paige Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Revs. Rick Thompson and Cal Callison officiating. Interment will be at Newton burial Park, Nevada. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
