Lady Tigers softball season begins Aug. 28

The Nevada Lady Tigers softball team is set to begin the 2013 season at home, against Pleasant Hope High School. That contest is set to be a varsity/JV doubleheader and will begin at 5 p.m., at Bushwhacker Field.

Following that contest, the Lady Tigers will get right back into action on Aug. 30, in the ninth annual Joplin High School Paige Neal/Christina Freeman Softball Tournament. This year's tournament will be held at the Joplin Athletic Complex, with pool play set for Aug. 30 and bracket play to be held on Aug. 31.

The Lady Tigers have been placed in Pool C for this year's tournament with McDonald County, Park Hill South and Carthage. Nevada is scheduled to open pool play against McDonald County at 11:45 a.m., on Field No. 3, before taking on Carthage at 5 p.m., and Park Hill South at 6:45 p.m.

Pool A in this year's tournament features Webb City, Carl Junction, Neosho and Columbia Rock Bridge. Seneca, Joplin, Blue Springs and Bartlesville, Okla., will make up Pool B.

Pool A is set to play all of its games on Field No. 1, while Pool B plays on Field No. 2.
