Bonnie Louise Brady

Bonnie Brady, 80, retired personnel counselor and recruiter, passed from this life to the next on Aug. 28, 2013, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Okla., after a brief illness.

She was born Bonnie Louise Stamps on Feb. 28, 1933, in Nevada, Mo. She was the second child to Leo Calvin and Flossie Jane Stamps. She spent a happy childhood in her birthplace and graduated from Nevada High School in 1951, where she formed cherished, lifelong friendships.

In her work life, she held various administrative and secretarial positions until she discovered her true calling as a personnel counselor at Tulsa Personnel Agency. Her career in helping people find their life's work spanned over 25 years in three cities: Tulsa, Houston, and New Orleans. After retiring, she still had a great interest in helping people and was active in several volunteer service and support groups in Tulsa. She was especially devoted to S.A.C.S (Singles Available for Community Service) and very committed to the Phoenix Singles ministry sponsored by Christ United Methodist Church.

She was not a person who was inclined to hobbies, preferring to work; however, she exhibited a life-long passion and talent for cooking. She learned this skill from her Aunt Day at a very young age and enjoyed nothing better than preparing a hearty and delicious meal for family and friends. She particularly delighted in making her homemade turkey dressing at Thanksgiving and preparing all sorts of pies, cookies, and candles during the Christmas season.

She will be remembered as the most loyal and faithful friend that anyone could hope to have. She kept in close touch with many of her high school classmates throughout her life and loved to plan and participate in their class reunions. Throughout her life, she collected and nurtured countless friendships across a wide range of personalities. She was always a sympathetic listener, a trusted confidante, a no-nonsense advisor, and an unrepentant reality checker. She generously bestowed both her candor and her caring to those she loved and held dear.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Dahmer, and daughter-in-law, Marie, of Georgetown, Texas; a niece, Sherrie Davidson and her husband, Craig, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a nephew, Tim Forkner and his wife, Tammy, of Vernon County, Mo.; and a brother-in-law, Arch Forkner, also of Vernon County. She is blessed with many grand and great nieces and nephews who all are flourishing in Oklahome, Missouri, and Oregon.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lamoni Carol Forkner, who passed away in December 2007.

A private family service will be held this week with arrangements provided by Stanleys Funeral Home. The family will hold a public memorial service to celebrate Bonnie's life at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at Clarehouse, 7617 South Mingo, Tulsa, Okla. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, or Clarehouse.
