Erma Lavonne Layher

Erma Lavonne Layher, 86, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada. She was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Peterson, Iowa, to William K. Clapsaddle and Cora B. Clapsaddle. She married Fred Layher on Sept. 15, 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he survives.

Erma came to Missouri with her family at a young age from Iowa. She graduated from Metz High School in 1945 and lived in the Nevada area most of her life. Erma was an avid bowler in Nevada and El Dorado Springs.

In addition to her husband, Fred, survivors include two sons, Ron E. Layher and Judy, Branson, Mo., and Randy Layher and his wife, Becky, Bronaugh, Mo.; one daughter, Diane Jackson and her husband, Guy, Monett, Mo.; three grandchildren, Matt Layher, Bronaugh, Allison Layher, Denver, Colo., and Amy Lovelace, Springhill, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Owens, Gallatin, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vern Clapsaddle and Elwyn Clapsaddle; and one sister, Verona Cowan.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. The family will receive friends at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, from 2:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
