Nevada tennis falls at Joplin
JOPLIN -- The Lady Eagles of Joplin High School had little trouble getting past the Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team on their home courts Thursday.
The Lady Tigers were unable to win a match on the night, leading to a 9-0 victory for Joplin. It was the second time the Lady Tigers had been blanked in as many matches this season and the first shutout on the road.
In the season opener, the Lady Tigers were shut out by Carl Junction, but were able to keep every match close. That wasn't the case Thursday, however, as Joplin cruised through all six singles matches and the three doubles contests.
The closest match of Thursday's dual was the No. 3 singles matchup, in which Lize Smith fell by a final score of 8-3.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 0-2 in dual competition on the year. Next on the schedule for Nevada is Tuesday, when the Lady Tigers head back out on the road to take on Monett, at 4:30 p.m.
