Ella Louise Munkers

Ella Louise Munkers, 92, of Independence, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. Louise was born March 31, 1921, in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Frederick Francis and Bina (Burris) Jones.

She moved from Nevada in 1943 and lived in Kansas City, until she moved to Independence in 1960. During World War II, she worked for Pratt & Whitney in Fairfax, Kan. She married Harold Munkers in 1953. Louise worked for the Hartford Insurance Co. in Kansas City for 40 years and then worked for several years for Royal Insurance Co. in Overland Park, Kan. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 385 of Independence, since 1973.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Munkers, in 1975 and by three brothers.

She is survived by twin sisters, Margaret E. Davis of Nevada, and Eleanor L. Allen of Conroe, Texas; five nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, Sept. 7, at New Salem Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 3 p.m., in Deerfield Cemetery, outside of Nevada.
