Cottey Comets fall at NEO
MIAMI, Okla. -- The Cottey College Comets dropped their third match of the season Wednesday, at Northeast Oklahoma A&M Community College. Though things did improve for the Comets between Friday night's season opener and Wednesday, but it wasn't quite enough as NEO took the victory in three sets, by the final scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-23.
"Game one scoring was a result of adjusting to the fans, but game two became a lack of proper blocking technique and angle," Comets head coach Marla Kannady Foreman said. "When you have a team that runs a lot of quicks, and runs a fast tempo hitting game, it's sometimes hard to read who is coming up to hit, because they send more than one player to attack.
"Game three was just a sure will not to let down on a very solid team, and I love to see that kind of fight and determination. We actually had them tied at 23-23, and then missed a serve and dig to allow them the victory over us. We are still working to clean up our unforced errors and make them a bare minimum for each game."
With the loss, the Comets fell to 0-3 on the season. Next on the schedule for Cottey is Friday, when the Comets head back out on the road to take on Labette County Community College.
