Vendors can still take part in the Farmers' Market in Nevada. Civic clubs, church groups, and community organizations are also encouraged to participate.

While there is a vendor fee for commercial sales, not-for-profit organizations hosting a fundraiser at the market don't have to pay a booth fee.

Thus far, the market has 13 regular vendors who are on hand at Earp Park, on Austin, next to the fire department, every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

"For a town and market of our size, we've been told that's a pretty good number," said organizer Kelly Ast, who added she would love to have more.

The market runs through October.

Coming up next is the market's Fall Festival Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 featuring fall produce.

"We expect to have apples, pumpkins, gourds, handmade items, Amish furniture, jewelry, and baked goods," said Ast.

Ast said the market has been very successful, in part, due to its location.

"Having it in the park off one of the busiest streets in town is the key of our success. We've got lots of parking at City Hall, and there's the lot to the north that's very close. And there are public restrooms.

"We couldn't have done this without the help of the city and Healthy Nevada."
