Dolores Kimmell, 91, Nevada, passed away on Sept. 22, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada.

Dolores was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Holt County in northwestern Missouri. She grew up and attended Catholic schools in St. Joseph, Mo. Following high school, Dolores worked hard in business school and obtained a job as a secretary at the North American Modification Center in Kansas City. While working at the center, she met her future husband who was an airplane inspector there. After a whirlwind courtship of two short weeks, they entered into a marriage that lasted more than 62 years. Dolores Jean and Andrew George Kimmell were married on Nov. 24, 1943, and together they began their new life in Kansas City. Throughout the years, they lived in a variety of places -- both city and country -- and together they raised their 11 children.

Dolores and George began their epoxy business, Kimmell Engineering, in 1960 where she assisted him as bookkeeper and office manager. They owned this business, in Harrisonville, for many years before selling the business and moving to Nevada in 1976. Along with their farm, they owned a restaurant in Deerfield, Drywood Inn, and ran that for several years.

Dolores loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will greatly miss her. She has been an amazing mother to all generations of her family. Dolores loved playing the piano, growing roses, her life on the farm, and her chickens and cats. Words cannot express the depth of love that her family has for her nor can any words describe the feeling of loss the family is experiencing.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; two children; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by 11 children: daughter, Carolyn Reeder (Broken Arrow, Okla.); daughter, Margaret and husband, John Ehrenreich (Gulf Breeze, Fla.); son, Drew and wife, Susie Kimmell (Nevada); daughter, Norma and husband, Jerry Kreiensieck (Nevada); son, Chris Kimmell (Nevada); daughter, Kathryn Kimmell (Springfield); daughter, Janet and husband, Jerry Erambert (Cartersville, Ga.); son, Mike and wife, Ruth Kimmell (Nevada); daughter, Gail and husband, Chip Jackson (Sedalia); daughter, Nancy and husband, Walter Coffer (Deerfield); and daughter, Cindy and husband, Travis Miller (Nevada). She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada with the Rev. Matthew Benjamin officiating. A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 6--7 p.m., Tuesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School in care of St. Mary's Catholic Church or Ferry Funeral Home.
