Helen "Louise" Cox

Helen "Louise" Cox, 82, died Sept. 27, at Freeman Hospital. Born Aug. 24, 1931, in Springfield, Mo., she graduated from high school in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married the late James W. Cox in 1951.

A lover of beauty, hot pink, the movies, and an eternal optimist when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs, Louise enjoyed traveling the world, collecting antiques, and speaking in hyperbole. We told her a million times to stop exaggerating.... She was also fluent in sarcasm.

She is survived by her six children, Gail Lindsey, Jean Cox Zullig (Ron), Jan Cox (Dave Drews), Lynn Arias, Tony Cox, and Terri Cox Fallin. Louise had eight grandchildren, Aaron Lindsey (Julie), Blaire Miller (Alex), Adam Zullig, Morgan Hammond (Jeremy), Nathan Zullig, Lauren Gilmer (JD), Kristen Arias, and Emerson Fallin. She loved the thought of being a great-grandmother to Madelyn, Hudson, Truett, Mallory, Tanner, Madison, Lux, Leah, Nicholas, and Emerson.

She also was predeceased by her parents, Pearl Hughes Watkins and Ector Benjamin Watkins.

No services are planned; local friends may call at the Fallin home between 5 and 7 p.m., on Tuesday. Per her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in Nova Scotia, which she dreamed of visiting since childhood, when she read Anne of the Green Gables.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cottey College fine arts building fund or the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Mosque preservation fund.

We take comfort in the fact that she no longer has faith, but has reality in Christ.
