Peggy Sue Seitz, 49, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., after a six month illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1964, in Nevada, the second daughter of the late Gerald George Seitz and Betty Josephine (Claiborne) Seitz.

She was a member of the graduating class of 1982 in Nevada. Peggy received her teaching degree from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar and her master's degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. She taught four years in Hume and for the last 16 years in Kansas City, Mo., where she taught English as a second language to international students. She was a lifetime member of the Pine Street Baptist Church in Nevada as well as a member of the Teachers Union, and was an avid supporter of the Kansas City Animal Shelter.

Aside from her family, her greatest love was always teaching and she never gave up her lifelong interest in education -- from dancing to cooking. She helped anyone in need whether it be clothing or food or a friend. She also loved to travel and was always involved with family and friends in every way possible. Holidays were quite an adventure for the family -- cooking experiments -- for both the food that was prepared and those eating. Peggy lived life to the fullest enjoying it all.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Seitz, of Nevada; one brother, Daniel Seitz and his wife, Jo Ann, of Nevada; one sister, Nancy Seitz and her husband, Chris Aguilar, also of Nevada; her cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew and cousin; Susan Caviness of Nevada and her children, Sara, Chantel, and James Reiff; Josh and Cerissa Seitz of Nevada; Mike Seitz of Kansas City, Mo.; and Patrick Aguilar of Nevada. Of special mention and with thanks are Ron Pence and Miguel Perez, along with many others.

Services for Peggy Sue Seitz are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Chad Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct.16, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Rich Hill, Mo. Memorials are suggested to Vernon County Cancer Relief or the Pine Street Baptist in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
