Tigers fare well at Webb City

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

The Nevada Tigers swim team got back into action Tuesday with a noticeably thinner than usual roster. Due to injuries, head coach Ryan Watts was forced to go to the Webb City meet with just his freshmen.

Those freshmen performed better than even Watts could have expected, however, giving him plenty of reason to leave the meet happy.

"I was very proud of them stepping up at a big (moment) and dealing with the pressure," Watts said. "Hopefully, we will have the whole team back next week!"

Thomas Prewitt finished third for the Tigers in the backstroke and third in the 50-yard freestyle. Jake Asberry finished second in the 50 freestyle and claimed third in the 100 butterfly.

Next on the schedule for the Tigers is next Tuesday, when they head out on the road once again to compete in the Joplin meet. That meet is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.
