Margaret Jane Clark

Margaret Jane Clark, 85, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. She was born July 14, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Fred Anderson and Lola Harvey Anderson. Margaret married Donald E. Clark on Oct. 14, 1950, at Kansas City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2002.

While in Kansas City, Margaret had worked as personnel manager and bookkeeper for H.D. Lee Jean Company. The Clarks moved to Richards, Mo., in 1975, and later moved to Fort Scott. At this time, Margaret was employed by Deerfield Grain and then Extrusions, Inc.

Margaret led a full and active life. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Ladies. She also enjoyed reading and traveling.

Survivors include her four children, Dondra Roland, St. Cloud, Minn., Gary Clark and wife, Gwen, Afton, Okla., Shirlee Skaggs and husband, Mike, Afton, Okla., and Kimberly Jones and husband, Dean, Fort Scott. Also surviving are an honorary son, James King, of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister Colleen Churchwell, Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov.18, at the U.S. National Cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Transportation Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
