Freshman boys defeat Carthage

The Nevada Tigers freshman boys' basketball team saw its first action of the season Monday night, taking on the Tigers of Carthage, at Nevada Middle School.

Head coach Shaun Gray's freshman Tigers opened up a 28-14 lead at halftime and ultimately held on to take the victory by a final score of 56-46. Matt Sommer led Nevada with 25 points -- including 19 in the first half -- and Patrick Ferry added 17 of his own, 13 of which came in the second half.

The Tigers are scheduled to visit Harrisonville Thursday and McDonald County Friday, weather permitting.
