Hanging of the Greens is one of Cottey's oldest and most cherished traditions.

This year, the tradition began on Wednesday night with decorating of the wreaths in the chapel basement.

On Thursday afternoon, the Chamber choir sang holiday carols at dinner, and invited the audience to sing along. After dinner, students stayed in Raney dining hall to decorate cookies that they would be able to enjoy on Friday evening at the house of president Dr. Judy Rogers.

Friday evening began with hanging the wreaths at all the buildings on campus, then students met again at Main Hall to carol the three blocks to the president's house.

Due to the frigid weather this year, wreath hanging and caroling was shortened to keep students from being outside for prolonged periods of time.

Dr. Rogers invited the students into her home for conversation, cookies, hot chocolate, and wassail.

Then on Saturday night, the Cottey community and invited community members were able to enjoy a delicious holiday feast provided by the Cottey dining hall staff.
