George Daniel "Dan" Lusk

George Daniel "Dan" Lusk, 60, Mound City, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan. He was born Feb. 13, 1953, in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Webb Earl Miller and Bernice Odessa Powers Miller. At the age of three Dan was adopted by Donald J. Lusk. On Feb. 22, 1969, he was united in marriage to Laura Rondeau in Noel, Mo., and to this union four children were born. Dan and Laura divorced in 1996.

After graduating high school, Dan served in the United States Army in the 32nd Armored Division stationed in Germany. He was medically discharged following an auto accident and returned to Vernon County with his family. He worked as plant supervisor for Quality Products, Inc., for 20 years, retiring from there in 2009. He then moved to the resort community of Sugar Valley Lakes near Mound City, Kan., and resided there till his death. Dan was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770 Nevada and was a Past Worthy President. He also belonged to the VFW, Nevada Post No. 2175.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel "Joe" Lusk, Walker, Mo., Marc Lusk, Nevada, and Tim Lusk, Walker; five grandsons, Mickey, Sam, and Kasey Jones, of Walker, and Ryan and Travis Lusk, Nevada; three granddaughters, Nicole, Crestin and Brylee Lusk, all of Walker; and four sisters, Susan Green, Mound City, Kan., Lois Lusk, Schell City, Mo., Lisa Simon, Schell City, and Cristina Garzee, Monegaw Springs, Mo. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donnie Lusk; one sister, Mary Kerril; and his daughter, Beverly Lusk Jones.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Eagles Lodge, in Nevada, with Ray Dean Scism officiating.
