Elizabeth Lee Gilbert

Elizabeth Lee Gilbert, 57, Ozark, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in Springfield, Mo. She was born Feb. 1, 1956, in Osceola, Mo., to Lee and Wanda R. (Cross) Gilbert.

Elizabeth was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1974. She graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City and also Penn State University with a degree in education and nuclear engineering. Following college she lived in California, Mo., where she taught chemistry and physics at the California High School, until her retirement in 2010. She has resided the past two years in Ozark, Mo. She loved to fly with her father and was a wonderful artist.

Survivors include her mother, Wanda Gilbert, Springfield, Mo.; sister, Stephanie Gilbert, Lebanon, Mo.; one nephew, Brian Riedy and his wife, Kristin, of Springfield; her niece, Jennifer Riedy, Blue Springs, Mo.; great-nephew, Davis Riedy; and two great-nieces, Paige Riedy and Hanna Riedy. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Gilbert; and one sister, Phyllis Ann Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Private committal will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
