Kenneth Leroy Adams, 85, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at his home in Nevada, Mo., following a lengthy illness. He was born in Rockville, Mo., on March 13, 1928, to Benny Clarence Adams and Ivy Beatrice Richeson Adams. He married Violet McQuay on Aug. 4, 1969, in Miami, Okla., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2012.

Kenneth was raised in the Rockville area and attended school there. He went into the U.S. Army Corp during World War II. Kenneth lived in Nevada most of his life and drove a truck. He was baptized in the Rockville Baptist Church and was a member of the Nevada Eagles and VFW. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed camping, working on a Model A Ford and attending car shows.

He is survived by three stepchildren, Gary McQuay, Nevada, Vicki Thornhill, Ballard, Mo., and Sandra Dunfield and her husband, Lloyd, Nevada; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Iva Lorene Spillman, Nevada, Dorothy May Stueck, Rich Hill, Mo., and Darlene Burgess, Hamilton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Violet; his parents; one daughter, Susie Caldwell, in 2013; six brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery. Friends may call now until the hour of service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral Home.
