Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Based on his performance at the Under Armour Southwest Championship baseball game, which was held in July 2013, in Azusa, Calif., and the Under Armour Southeast Championship baseball game, held in June 2013, in Jupiter, Fla., Northeast Vernon County High School junior Taylor Highfill was recognized as one of the top 400 high school players in the nation.

Players from at least 33 states, Puerto Rico and Canada are scheduled to take part in the Under Armour All-American Preseason Tournament, to be held at the Kino Sports Complex, in Tucson, Ariz. In addition to tournament competition, players will be given workouts and will be videotaped.

This tournament will also serve as part of the selection process for the Under Armour All-American Game, which will take place at Wrigley Field. Highfill will represent Southwest Missouri on one of the 28 teams competing for the tournament championship, with a chance to participate in this Elite Tournament.

All selected participants will be presented with an "Under Armour Pre-Season All-American certificate" at the tournament's opening ceremonies, which are scheduled to take place at Tucson Double Tree on Friday night, Jan. 17.
