Robert Lewis McGinnis Sr., 82, of Milo, Mo., passed away Jan. 20, 2014, at the Willow Lane Nursing Home, in Butler, Mo. He was born in Napoleon, Mo., to George R. and Leona Mae (Lewis) McGinnis.

Throughout most of his life, Robert worked as a farm hand and in the 1980s--1990s he graded roads for the Metz area, then later in the 1990s to 2004, he graded roads for Sheldon Township. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved horses all of his life. Later he enjoyed watching western movies and wrestling on TV. He read many Louis L'Amour books and would read just about anything in sight.

Survivors include his son, Robert Lewis McGinnis Jr. and Crystal, of Milo; daughter, Deborah S. McGinnis, of Chanute, Kan.; son, Edward L. McGinnis, of Independence; sister, Mildred Louise Ellifrits; grandchildren, Dillion Leroy McGinnis, Megan Ann McGinnis, Angel Rose McGinnis, and Madison Elizabeth McGinnis; and other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Della Ann.

A memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, at the Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo., with the Rev. Roger Beach officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of services at the funeral home.
