William "Bill" Gene Nims

William "Bill" Gene Nims, 62, of Milo, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, as the result of an accident while cutting wood on his farm. He was born on June 2, 1951, in Vernon County, Mo., to Lloyd and Bertha (Baker) Nims.

Bill graduated from Lamar High School in 1969. He attended Pittsburg State University and graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in accounting in 1975. He worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue and most recently for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Bill was an active participant of the Mo-Kan Squares. He also enjoyed being outdoors and working in his garden. Bill's favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren and they brought him much joy.

Bill is survived by his son, Ryan Masters and wife, Glenda, Littleton, Colo.; daughter, Andrea Wydick and husband, Daniel, Milo; grandchildren, Rylee, Charli, Dani, and David Wydick, and one grandson to be born in Spring 2014; sister, Sheila Durman, Sheldon, Mo.; brothers, Walt Nims and wife, Debbie, Golden City, Mo., and Ray Nims and wife, Debbie, Girard, Kan.; three aunts; two nieces; three nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; several cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, with Steve Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home.
