Marilyn Dee Culp

Marilyn Dee Culp, 80, formerly of Fort Scott, Kan., and more recently of Bronaugh, Mo., died Monday, March 3, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada, Mo. She was born April 30, 1933, the daughter of John Clark and Ruth Elsie Lewis Vermillion. She attended Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College.

She married Douglas Culp on Aug. 9, 1948, in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1988. Marilyn worked in the printing department for Fort Scott Community College for 10 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and traveling. She was a member of the RLDS Church in Nevada.

Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Daniels, Topeka, Kan., Sarah McCully and husband, Les, Deerfield, Mo., and Shanna Griffiths and husband, Bob, Bronaugh, Mo.; two brothers, James and John Vermillion, California City, Calif.; a sister, Elnora Weeks, Adrian, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Angela Kearns, Lenexa, Kan., Kristina Cute and husband, Ken, San Antonio, Texas, Eryka Benteman and husband, Josh, Topeka, Kan., Meggan Witte and husband, Matt, Moundville, Mo., Erin Meek and husband, Shannon, Deerfield, Mo., Kathleen Morton and husband, Nathan, Yucaipa, Calif., Douglas Griffiths and wife, Priscilla, Bronaugh, Mo., and Lisa Peterson and husband, Shane, Bronaugh; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 7, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to V.F.W. Post No. 1165 and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
