Wava N. Halcomb

Wava N. Halcomb, 81, Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at her residence, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Wava was born May 4, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Audrey Brown and Ruby M. Gardner Brown. She was united in marriage to Calvin Amos Halcomb on July 9, 1951, in Carrollton County, Ark., and he preceded her in death June 30, 1988.

Wava came with her family, at age 10, from Iowa to the farm near Milo, Mo. She attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Following graduation she was a homemaker and began working at the Vernon County Clerk's Office where she worked for a number of years. She then later served as Vernon County Clerk for multiple terms until her retirement. Wava was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Nevada.

Survivors include one son, Gordon K. Halcomb and Tammy Frame, Nevada; one daughter, Pam Halcomb, Nevada; one grandson, Kenny Halcomb and his wife, Stephanie; three great-grandchildren, Trevor Seitz, Mason Halcomb, and McKenzie Halcomb; one brother, Dean McIntosh and his wife, Mary, Moundville; one sister, Jean Neiweg and her husband, Warren, Carthage; one sister-in-law, Janet McIntosh, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; and two brothers, Don McIntosh and Jack McIntosh.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 3, at Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, Mo., with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. Friends may call from now and until 12:30 p.m., Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Parkinson's Foundation in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
