James L. Caviness, 58, of Sallisaw, Okla., formerly of Nevada, Mo., lost his long battle with cancer on Friday, March 28, 2014, with family by his side. He was born July 2, 1955, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Jerry and Agatha Caviness.

He is survived by three sons, James A. Caviness, Timothy Caviness, and Trayvis Caviness; two daughters, Anna Caviness and Tanisha Lukenbill; six grandchildren, Hayleigh Boswell, Noelani Boswell, Andromeda Boswell, Jeremiah Honey, Emily Honey, and Judah Honey; two sisters, Kathleen Brockway and Patricia Perkins; four brothers, Joseph Caviness, Robert Caviness, Leroy Caviness, and Dennis Caviness; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack Caviness, David Caviness, Craig Caviness, and infant twins; one sister, Carol Caviness; and one granddaughter, Patience Caviness.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at Olive Branch Cemetery.
