Sharon Louise Kafer, 72, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. She was born March 28, 1942, in Walker, Mo., to Arthur Harold Julian and Vera Claudine (Hubbard) Julian.

Sharon was born and raised in Walker, Mo., and graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1959. She worked at the Nevada Habilitation Center for 33 years, retiring in 1994. She then worked part-time at Daylight Donuts. Sharon did genealogy for all of her family and enjoyed reading. She attended Pine Street Baptist Church and was a past member of Victory Baptist Church where she was baptized.

Survivors include her children, Carrie Dawn Mason and Marc, Nevada, Gary Shane Kafer and Lisa, Joplin, Mo., Erin Danette Skaggs and Steven, Aurora, Ill., and James Eric Kafer and Gina, Nevada; grandchildren, Tiffany Cartwright, Taylor Cartwright, Hunter Mason, Wesley Kafer and Amber, Christopher Kafer, Ellie Saults, Keith Kafer, Madison Kafer, Brenton Kafer, Gianna Kafer, and Gelina Kafer; great-grandchildren, Brianna Kafer and Camdyn Cartwright; and one sister, Lynda Hogan, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, with Ray Dean Scism officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home.
