A Nevada woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when her motorcycle collided with another vehicle.

Leonette Hammontree, 37, was driving west on U.S. Highway 54 outside of Nevada when the wreck occurred around 3:45 p.m.

According to an accident report by Missouri Highway Patrol trooper Justin Leemasters, a second driver, 17-year-old Jesse Claypool, of Richards, failed to yield after stopping and pulled into Hammontree's path.

Hammontree was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Vernon County Coroner David Ferry.

Claypool had minor injuries, and was taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A memorial service for Hammontree will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home. Visitation will will precede the service, beginning at 5 p.m. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada Eagles Lodge.

This is the third accident members of the Hammontree family have been involved in within the last two weeks. Leonette's husband, Joe Hammontree, was in two accidents May 3. Around 8:30 a.m., Hammontree walked away without injuries from a two-car accident. Hours later, he was severely hurt after his motorcycle collided with another driver.
