Anna Jean Tingley

Anna Jean Tingley, 80, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, in Kansas City. She was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Shreve, Ohio, to John Lawrence and Anna Mae (Goodman)Sampsel. She and her husband, Billy Lee Tingley Sr., spent more than 50 years together before his death on June 3, 2000.

Anna grew up in Ohio, then in the mid-1960s moved to California. She and her family spent many years there where she worked as a beautician and together with her husband the couple raised three children. She and Mr. Tingley lived for a few years in Arizona after leaving California then moved to Missouri in 1994, making this area their home since that time. In what spare time she had, Anna enjoyed going to yard sales and making and collecting dolls. She had a collection of more than 350 dolls of various sizes and varieties. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Billy Tingley Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Fort Scott, Kan., Cheryl Short, of Nevada, and Jerri Jones and her husband, Wally, also of Nevada; four sisters, Beverly and Tom, Johnna and Randy, Linda and Smitty, and Bonnie, all of Ohio; one brother, David and his wife, Johnna, of Colorado; grandchildren, Bobby Curran, Micheal Frank, Eric Tingley, Lisa Nicholson, Amanda Lowe, and Michael Tingley; great grandchildren, Mykal Fritts and Jenny, Mathew Cornell, Skylar Fritts, Anthony Cornell, Maykayla Lowe, Autom Curran, Micheal Curran, and Brandon Curran; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Aside from her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents; one infant sister; granddaughter, Tiffany Short; son-in-law, Terry Short; and her son, Micheal.

The family is planning a private service at a later date.

Friends may sign a memorial book in honor of Mrs. Tingley from now until noon, Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home.
