Violet Marie Wingate

Violet Marie Wingate, 88, Nevada, formerly of Schell City, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, in Nevada. Violet was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Union Star, Mo., to Curtis A. Jones and Lottie Bell (Butt) Jones. She was united in marriage to Robert Murry Wingate on Aug. 12, 1950, in North Kansas City, Mo., and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2008.

Violet grew up in St. Joseph and later Kansas City, Mo. She worked for Sears in Kansas City for 32 years before moving to Schell City where she and her husband Bob lived for 20 years. Following Bob's death Violet moved to Nevada where she had continued to live. Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church in Schell City. In her spare time she enjoyed needle work and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her sister, Rosemary Ahnen, Prairie Village, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by three sisters.

Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, June 28, at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
