Beverly Jean Haner

Beverly Jean Haner, 85, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada. She was born July 24, 1928, in Ketterman, Mo., the daughter of Rolla S. and Harriett Lillian (Rankin) Sharp. On Oct. 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Thomas Haner in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death.

Jean attended grade school at Board School then graduated from Walker High School with the Class of 1946. After her marriage to Mr. Haner, together the couple became parents to six children, three sons and three daughters. Throughout her life Jean worked at Murphy Laundry, the Boy's Ranch, Len's Truck and Auto and the 54 Café. For 19 years she was employed in the cafeteria at the Nevada R-5 school district, retiring from there in 1995. She never forgot even one of the students and any time that she would meet one of them they were always glad to see her.

She was also involved in 4-H for many years and never missed the Vernon County Youth Fair as a worker and in the last few years as a visitor. She also volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Bank, American Cancer Society events, and the Nevada FFA. She attended the Harwood Baptist Church until entering the Moore-Few Care Center in April 2012. She was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Sue Bobbett and DeVere, of Rogersville, James Duane Haner and Arlene, of Drexel, Cheryl Kay Ellis and Charlie, of Schell City, Tom Haner of Nevada, Teresa Jean Gordon and Kenton, of Diamond, and Timmie Wayne Haner and Jacque, of Nevada; her brother, Glenn Sharp and Becky, of Tonganoxie, Kan.; grandchildren, Dustin Bobbett and Lois, of Springfield, Darren Bobbett and Tami, of Nevada, Devin Bobbett of Ozark, Brian Haner and Melinda, of Ottawa, Kan.; Tracy Harms and Randy, of Harwood, Thad Gordon of Diamond, Kristi Gordon of Joplin, Kimberly Haner of Nevada, and Makayla Haner of Nevada; great-grandchildren, Ashley Harms, Tammy Harms, Katy Leach and Ryan, and Jared, Ryan, Connor, Tyler, Lacey, Shelby, Griffin, and Emily Bobbett, Kimberlee Bryson, and Ryan and Kyle Haner; great-great-grandchildren, Paxton Baer, Hunter Leach, and Bailey and Zander Brannan; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wayne; three sisters, Faye, Ruby and Ione; and granddaughter, Aimee Diane Haner.

Graveside services for Beverly Jean Haner are scheduled for 1 p.m., today, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada, with Brother Lawrence Cripps officiating. A visitation is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m., just prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home.
